Conceptually, this design was focused on the idea of sound and its relation to the massing of the building. Because it is a public building on the corner of a busy intersection, creating spaces of calm within the city was a priority, while also allowing space to celebrate the sound that comes with the social scene of the community.
The diagram below displays what each spaces average volume would be.
The textures and materiality used also correlate to the sound and noise levels of each space. The more transparent the space is, the more welcome to sound it becomes.
